Yes - Norway is a member of the Apostille Convention.

Norwegian documents can be legalized for use abroad with an Apostille Stamp when destined for other signatory countries without additional certification by the destination country.

When Norwegian documents are required for non-apostille countries, such as United Arab Emirates - Taiwan - Malaysia - Thailand - Qatar they need additional authentication by the embassy of the destination country.

Apostilles in Norway, issued by the County Governors, can be obtained for official Norwegian documents including:

Most Norwegian documents can be notarized and authenticated with an Apostille Stamp from the County Governor in 2 - 3 working days (subject to the availability of notary appointments)

Document legalization (or attestation) is a procedure which authenticates a public Norwegian document so that it can be submitted in another country for official or legal purposes - for example, if you need to submit a Norwegian birth certificate to the authority or embassy of another country, it will often need to be legalized.

Legalizing a document in Norway certifies the authenticity of the signature appearing on the document as that of an authorized public official in Norway and confirms the capacity of that official.

• Because Norway is a member of the Apostille Convention, Norwegian documents can be legalized by means of an Apostille Stamp when being submitted to countries that are also members of the Hague Apostille Convention
• If a Norwegian document is required for a country that is not a member of the Apostille Convention, it will need to be legalized both by Norwegian authorities and by the embassy of the recipient country (embassy in Norway or non-resident embassy accredited to Norway).

Norwegian birth certificates can be ordered online from Norwegian Tax Administration with an Electronic ID and will be sent to your registered address in the National Population Register.

Norwegian marriage certificates (marriages after 1 October 2004) can be ordered online from the Norwegian Tax Administration with a Electronic ID and will be sent to your registered address in the National Population Register. If the marriage took place before 1 October 2004, you must directly contact the one who officiated the wedding to get a copy of the marriage certificate.

A confirmation of death can be obtained from the District Court (in Norwegian)
A death certificate, with more details than a confirmation, can be obtained from the doctor who wrote the certificate or Norwegian Institute of Public Health
Death certificates from before 1996 are available from the National Archives of Norway (in Norwegian)

A Printout from the National Population Register can be ordered online with an Electronic ID from the Norwegian Tax Administration. Printouts from the National Population Register (available in English or Norwegian) are sent digitally or on paper with a stamp and signature (select a paper copy if an Apostille stamp is required). The printouts on paper will be sent to your registered address.

Certificates of Good Standing and proof of non-bankruptcy can be obtained in Norwegian and English from the Brønnøysund Register Centre. Certificates of Conduct for Norwegian businesses and organisations can be obtained from the Norwegian Police.

Notarized Certificates of Incorporation can be obtained in Norwegian and English from the Brønnøysund Register Centre.

Norwegian Police Certificates of Conduct may be authenticated with an Apostille Stamp from the County Governor. Certificates must be no more than 3 months old.

Norwegian police certificates of conduct are valid for three months.

Norwegian university degrees required for submission to the authorities of Qatar or in support of Qatar visa applications are certified by a notary and legalized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for attestation by the embassy of Qatar in Stockholm.

Norwegian university degrees required for submission to the authorities of the United Arab Emirates or in support of UAE visa applications are certified by a notary and legalized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following legalization in Norway, diplomas are legalized by the Norwegian embassy in Abu Dhabi for final attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Norwegian university diplomas and course transcripts required for submission to the authorities of Saudi Arabia may be authenticated with an Apostille Stamp issued by the County Governor (attestation by the embassy or Cultural Bureau is no longer required).

Norwegian university diplomas and other academic documents can be certified by a notary public and then authenticated with an Apostille Stamp from the County Governor.
