Authenticate Hong Kong degree certificates and academic diplomas for use abroad

Hong Kong University degrees, course transcripts and other academic certificates can be authenticated for submission to authorities abroad with an Apostille Stamp from the High Court.

Before being presented to the High Court, educational documents must be verified and certified by a Hong Kong notary public. An Apostille Stamp can be affixed to the original certificate or to a certified copy.

Documents needed for countries that have not acceded to the Apostille Convention (e.g. United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Taiwan, Qatar) require additional attestation by the recipient consulate in Hong Kong.

To obtain an Apostille Stamp on a Hong Kong University Degree, the original diploma must be submitted to a Hong Kong Notary Public. The notary can certify the original diploma or make a certified true copy, which can then be submitted to the High Court for an Apostille Stamp.

Diplomas required for submission to the authorities of countries which are not members of the Apostille Convention, such as Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam, will require further legalization by the respective consulate in Hong Kong.

Legalizing Hong Kong University Degrees for Qatar

To legalize Hong Kong degree certificates at the consulate of Qatar, in addition to the Graduation Certificate (original or certified copy), an original copy of the transcripts must also be submitted. Both documents must be notarized and authenticated by the High Court. The Consulate of Qatar will not legalize degrees conducted online.
